Allendale Ambulance

For over 70 years, the Allendale Ambulance Corps has been meeting the needs of the residents of Allendale and Saddle River by functioning as an emergency medical service. They also provide services such as transportations for convalescents, stand-by coverage at community events, respond to fire scenes, free temporary use of home care supplies, instruction in first aid and CPR for all ages. To join this volunteer organization, please stop by the Police Station for an application or call Captain Daryl D'Amore at (201) 825-1934 or Susan Zitolo at (201)-934-9372 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.

Allendale Recreation Commission

The Allendale Recreation Commission is a self-sustaining non-profit organization that was established to sponsor youth recreation programs for children in grades kindergarten through eighth who resides in Allendale. The A.R.C. is also an affiliate chapter of the National Youth Sports Coaches Association. The organization's goals are to encourage the interest, knowledge and participation in each with the emphasis on having fun. It is staffed entirely by volunteer parents and is responsible for baseball, softball, kickball, soccer and basketball programs. Allendale Recreation

XYZ Senior Citizens Club of Allendale

The XYZ Club meets the first and third Friday of each month at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Lutheran Church. At each meeting, the members have lunch and enjoy playing cards and other similar games as well as other special programs with guest speakers. Other XYZ activities include day bus trips to points of interest in the surrounding area. For more information contact Jim Walsh at (201) 825-0156.

The Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Allendale Branch

The Allendale Branch is one of seventeen Branches and one Friends Group which form the Valley Hospital Auxiliary - an organization dedicated to providing volunteer service, community liaison and financial support to the hospital. Meetings are held in members' homes the second Tuesday of October, December, March and June. The third Wednesday of every month is Allendale's designated day to staff Kurth Cottage. Volunteers are always needed in this area, but may work elsewhere. Bridge players meet the first Tuesday of the months of October through May, except in January. Awards are given in June luncheon meeting. Other fund raisers are also held to meet our yearly pledge. We invite you to be a part of the Auxiliary and share a part of yourself with others. VFW Post 10181

The membership of VFW Post 10181 is open to any honorably discharged veteran of a foreign war. Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the Allendale Ambulance Corps building. For information call Quartermaster Ernest Cassidy at (201) 825-0718.

Volunteer Center of Bergen County

The Volunteer Center of Bergen County is a private, non-profit organization that recruits, interviews and refers volunteers from the community and workplace to serve over 300 social service and cultural agencies on Bergen County. Volunteer services are also provided directly by Bureau programs that help abused and neglected children and their families, senior and disabled homeowners and apartment dwellers and nursing home residents. The Junior League of Bergen County

The Junior League of Bergen County, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and to improving the community through the effective and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Membership is open to any woman who shares this commitment. Membership is open to all women ages 18 and older who live in Bergen County or its vicinity. For information call (201) 447-2292.

Holiday Observers

Established in 1919, the Holiday Observers were formed by a few neighbors who pooled their fireworks together to celebrate the Fourth of July. Since then, the group organized and now celebrates most holidays with the residents of Allendale to "provide and encourage patriotic observance of holidays and to instill respect among our young people of our traditions." Members must be residents of Allendale.

Generous financial support received from townspeople is returned in full, to the community in the form of recreation, entertainment and assistance in community projects. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 8:30 pm at the Borough Hall.

Friends of the Library

Formed in 1971, the Friends of the Library help to raise funds that the Lee Memorial Library uses to purchases books as well as needed equipment. These funds originate from on-going book sales as well as donations from residents. Donations of gently used books are always appreciated. Anyone wishing to be a member can join by calling the Library at (201) 327-4338.

American Legion Post 204

American Legion Post 204 is an organization whose membership is open to all honorably discharged veterans of the Armed Forces. They keep abreast of issues that specifically affect their members with emphasis on veteran's rights and benefits. For information call Commander Bernard Blide at (201) 372-7106.

The Community Arts Association

The Community Arts Association meets the second Monday of the month from September through May at 8:00 pm at Northern Highlands Regional High School. The association conducts both painting classes and workshops and hosts demonstrations by well-known artists in oil, watercolor and other media. Outdoor shows are held in the spring and fall that display works of many of the members. To become a member, write to: P.O. Allendale Newcomers' Club

Joining the Allendale Newcomers Club is a great way to meet people and get to know Allendale - for new and "not so new" residents! The purpose of Newcomers is to make friends and have fun. We offer a variety of ways to do that with both daytime and evening functions. You need only participate in the activities that interest you and only as often as you please. A monthly newsletter is sent to each member describing the activities planned for the month. Activity groups offered include Arts & Crafts, Bookmarks, Coffee & Kids Playgroups, Evening Social Group, Ladies' Night Out, Luncheon Group, Men's Night Out and Not For Kids Only. We also have occasional special family events, welcome breakfasts and new member socials.

Allendale Newcomers' Club

Allendale Woman's Club

The Allendale Woman's Club, formerly the Junior Woman's Club, was founded in 1933 and it is now the fastest growing woman's club in the State. Membership is open to Allendale residents and you can join at any time. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm at Borough Hall from September through June.

The Allendale Woman's Club supports many regional and local community organizations such as the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, The Quest Autism Foundation, the Allendale Ambulance, Police and Fire Departments, the Library, and the schools. We are involved in donating playground equipment to Crestwood, awarding scholarships as well as many fun social activities for both members and their families.

Allendale Woman's Club

Allendale Historical Society

The Allendale Historical Society was organized for the purpose of preserving the history of Allendale, as well as gathering and distributing this history to Borough residents. Anyone is welcome to join the Society. Please call Judy McKim at (201) 825-3553.

The Saddle River Valley Cultural Center

The Saddle River Valley Cultural Center was formed in 1982 to present cultural events and to increase awareness and appreciation of the fine arts. The organization is preserving as a historical site, the old Saddle River Methodist Church built in 1842. The renovated building is used for art lessons and art shows, concerts, dance lessons, theater presentations and meetings. All classes and events are open to the public. The SRVCC is a non-profit organization serving Allendale, Ramsey, Mahwah, Montvale, Ho-Ho-Kus and the Saddle River Valley. For information call (201) 825-3366.

Allendale Garden Club

The Allendale Garden Club is a social and community service group focusing on gardening and nature. We meet Sept. – June on the 3rd Wed. of the month at 7:30 pm at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Facility on Boro Line Road. Club activities include monthly speakers who address topics such as gardening techniques, environmental concerns and nature-oriented art and creativity. Evening tours of local gardens are held throughout June. We also perform community service by donating to local open space and gardening projects. In addition, many members volunteer their time to plant and maintain flower gardens on town property. Even if you're not an active gardener, we encourage you to join us – as long as you appreciate nature and beauty, you'll find something of interest in the club. Allendale Blood Donors Association

The Allendale Blood Donors Association is an organization comprised of resident volunteers that conducts a town wide blood donation drive each year on Election Day. Working closely with the Bergen Community Blood Center, the Association also arranges for replacement of blood for all residents who need it at no charge. President is Maria Crean.
